Ideal Time to Visit:
Arizona is a land of diverse experiences, offering everything from scenic hikes and canyon views to breathtaking drives to northern Arizona. While the state is known for its hot summers, there are plenty of other seasons to explore. Fall (September through November), Spring (March through May), and even winter (December through February) offer mild temperatures, making them ideal for outdoor adventures. If you’re visiting during the winter but craving snow, a quick drive to northern Arizona can fulfill your wish. The region does get a few inches of snow each year.
What to wear:
Scottsdale is a city known for its elegance and luxury. Here is a quick guide to help you dress for the best. Arizona has a lot of hiking trails, so if you plan to be outdoors, we recommend breathable activewear for your comfort. We also recommend a good pair of hiking boots and a comfortable pair of walking shoes. For those visiting in the fall or spring, a lightweight sweater for the occasional cool evening. If you plan to visit museums, fine dining, and luxury shopping, dress in what you like—just a reminder, Arizona is dry heat, so we recommend dressing in light, airy fabrics. Arizona has a higher UV, so we recommend using sunscreen.
How to get around:
Here are the most convenient ways to get around Scottsdale and its neighboring cities. If you are planning to stay local, we recommend Uber and Lyft since these will be easier to access. Another option is Waymo, a self-driving car in Downtown Phoenix that can take you to Scottsdale and other cities. The Valley Metro is our public transportation. We have buses running throughout the greater Phoenix area, which can take you to neighboring cities. The Valley Metro also has the light rail, which starts from Northern Phoenix and can take you to East Mesa. Lastly, renting a car is one the best ways to get around because you can explore more of the state, and you won’t need to worry about whether you can get a Lyft, Uber, or Waymo at a particular time.
