Rockstar Games<\/em> has delayed Grand Theft Auto VI<\/em> again, pushing the launch to November 19, 2026. The company says it needs more time to polish the game so players get the best experience possible. It also says missed deadlines are normal for big, open-world releases and that rushing a game can hurt quality. Despite this, the delay has sparked backlash as a major union-related controversy unfolded around the studio<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In late 2025, Rockstar fired more than 30 developers<\/a>. Most were based at Rockstar North in the UK, with a few in Canada. The company called the dismissals \u201cgross misconduct\u201d and said the workers had breached confidentiality by sharing confidential information in a Discord channel. The studio expanded on this, saying some discussions included \u201cspecific game features from upcoming and unannounced titles\u201d. This is a serious violation of non-disclosure agreements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Union leaders and former employees argue that firing workers for discussing labour rights is retaliation, a claim the studio denies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The situation escalated quickly. Protests took place outside Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive offices in Edinburgh and London. The UK Prime Minister described the case as \u201cdeeply concerning\u201d and said ministers would look into it. Meanwhile, a UK employment tribunal rejected ex-employees\u2019 request for interim pay while their unfair dismissal case moves forward, but the tribunal agreed to hear a full case. Both sides maintain confidence: The Independent Workers\u2019 Union of Great Britain (IWGB) argues the firings were unlawful<\/a>, and Rockstar insists its actions were justified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
