These lost arts include and are not limited to sewing, homemade cooking, cursive writing, storytelling and so many more. How would you feel if I told you that reading is on the road to becoming another great lost art of this world?! If you\u2019re a book lover like me, you may be wondering, \u201cHow can this be? Without reading we lose the art of knowledge, communication and creativity.\u201d And on that note you are absolutely right, but unfortunately many people don\u2019t see the point of having to read anymore. It\u2019s becoming outdated and people are becoming lazy (not us, of course). However, with that being said I\u2019ve decided to take it upon myself to provide what knowledge I can about why you should continue reading or if you haven\u2019t already, start reading.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/digitalwriting.cornellcollege.edu\/onemorechapter\/wp-content\/uploads\/46\/2026\/02\/image-13.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-214\" style=\"width:457px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/digitalwriting.cornellcollege.edu\/onemorechapter\/wp-content\/uploads\/46\/2026\/02\/image-13.png 800w, https:\/\/digitalwriting.cornellcollege.edu\/onemorechapter\/wp-content\/uploads\/46\/2026\/02\/image-13-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/digitalwriting.cornellcollege.edu\/onemorechapter\/wp-content\/uploads\/46\/2026\/02\/image-13-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/digitalwriting.cornellcollege.edu\/onemorechapter\/wp-content\/uploads\/46\/2026\/02\/image-13-768x768.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-left has-custom-color-8-color has-text-color has-link-color has-large-font-size wp-elements-b9359bfa823ab5f45bab66731d794331\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthline.com\/health\/benefits-of-reading-books\">BRAIN FOOD<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-custom-color-8-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-eaf6a884da2a82674e50d9bf29751cb1\">I\u2019m sure we\u2019re all no strangers to the saying \u201cfood feeds the stomach, whereas literature feeds the brain\u201d. However, if you are a stranger to such, that\u2019s good because I made it up. Regardless, such a saying is proved to be credible. From a young age, most if not all of us are taught to read and write. The first time we start reading, multiple regions of our brain are activated. These regions are the frontal lobe, angular and supramarginal gyrus as well as the temporal lobe.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-custom-color-8-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-d19413726c2fdd858a22a7ad3be1546a\">The listed regions are actually in charge of understanding grammar and speech production (I\u2019m sure you understand why that\u2019s significant). The left hemisphere of the region is the one that is crazy active along with white pattern pathways. White pattern pathways are undoubtedly important when it comes to reading. Such patterns in the brain connect the parts of the brain that process language and visual information making them meaningful.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-custom-color-8-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-8cfcfdefec1ddf3b32329dd3dcd9d155\">Now, you might be wondering, what does all this mean? Why should I care? Well, I\u2019m happy you asked. Beginning and continuing to read stimulates these pathways. It also enhances your brain activity. This strengthens your brain. Almost exactly like a workout\u2026. but for your brain. So, if you\u2019re a person that enjoys going to the gym, now you can enjoy picking up a book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-custom-color-8-color has-text-color has-link-color has-large-font-size wp-elements-7e33c7061e19d6c2d33da066a24a6752\"><a href=\"https:\/\/irisreading.com\/does-reading-improve-memory\/\"><strong>Benefits for Memory and Cognitive Function<\/strong><\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-custom-color-8-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-cc24a5c3683d5a39aa982acc65a671db\">As we get older our bodily functions may begin to\u2026degenerate (for lack of better words). Just like our bodies, our brains start to decline. However, consistently reading from youth to mature age prevents this cognitive decline. Such keeps our minds razor-sharp. Keeping the mind sharp includes strengthening our memory. When you read, not only are you obtaining information, you are also increasing your brain activity. This goes hand in hand with increasing lack of memory loss and cognitive function.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-custom-color-8-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-e8e12ea1e662b77aa39c4b3e940416e7\">Now that you know the few benefits of reading, you may take pride in continuing to do such. Regardless of what you\u2019re reading, your brain benefits.
