clampe27, April 10, 2025April 10, 2025

This week at Cornell!

There is plenty to go out and do this week at Cornell. Read more to check out everything going on and how to get involved. It’s starting to warm up so here is some events to distract you from finals and get you active during the block break.

Zumba Fitness Class

Come join the Zumba fitness class this Wednesday April 9th. Zumba is a fitness program that combines Latin inspired music with dance. It’s fun, it’s energetic, and its actually not that hard. Come relieve some stress, and get some cardio at the lower level fitness room of the SAW. Anybody and everyone is welcome, classes start at 4:30 and go until 5:15. Contact Marcia Sisk to learn more.

Pickle Ball League

The Co-ed Pickle Ball League is picking up this Sunday April 13th.  Go get your millennial on and get out there! Sure its not as hard as tennis but that’s the point.  If your interested two players teams can contact Zach Schlabaugh to learn more and sign up. Games are at the SAW and start at 6:30 and end by 8:30.

Nick Diffatte: Magician and Comedian

Come see Nick Diffate wow the crowd at his show Monday night. With finals fast approaching what better to shake the nerves? Organized by PAAC the show is definitely going to be exciting and entertaining. Nick Diffatte is a popular up and coming young magician who has performed all over the country, from Hollywood to Las Vegas to New York. And he’s coming here! Right to our very own OC where students can attend for free. Be prepared to be amazed by his magic tricks, and left chuckling by his jokes. The show starts at 7pm on the OC, contact PAAC to learn more.

Deep Peace Yoga

Relieve stress with relaxing yoga session at the SAW. Find inner peace and be one with your body, or maybe just get a really good stretch. Personally yoga is one of my favorite pastimes, I always feel rejuvenated afterwards. As an athlete yoga streches are extremely beneficial, and they feel really good. Open to all students and faculty, mats and blocks are provided. Classes start at 3:30pm and go until 4:30pm on Tuedays. Contact Melia White to learn more.

Yarn Squad

Hosted by the Cole Library, Yarn Squad is a place for all yarn and fiber enthusiasts! Bring your tools and materials along, or just come for a nice chat, Yarn Squad is here for you! They meet every Tuesday from 6pm to 8pm in room 326 of the Cole library. Yarn Squad is open to the public so Mt. Vernon locals and Cornell students are all welcome! Contact Cathy Boggs to learn more.

Pokemon Commitee

Check out the Pokemon Committee this Tuesday in Pfieffer! A subsection of the Chess and Games club, the Pokemon Committee meets to play and discuss Pokemon. Possibly one the most influential parts of my childhood, I was more of an avid player of the games. But whether you are a fan of the show, cardgame, or videogames, Pokemon Committee is a place for you. They’re here to discuss, debate, and have a good time. Contact Chess and Games to learn more.

Pet Therapy

It’s finals week, but more importantly, it’s Pet Therapy week. Take some time to relax and see cute puppies over lunch this Monday from 11-1pm at the OC. Be honest, beside people who are allergic of course, who doesn’t love puppies! Petting cute dogs is something that brings us together, and makes us feel good. Thankfully the College provides pet therapy before every finals to give us that last final push.

Sports! (At Home)

We have three Home sports events going on here at the Hilltop this week. Lacrosse starts out the week against Beloit at Ash park at 6pm. On Thursday Softball takes on Central at 2pm, and Baseball takes on Illinois college on Sunday at noon. Go support our Rams and hopefully we will finally have some good weather for the games this week!

Room Lottery

Yes, it’s here. One of the most important parts of your life on campus is where you live. In my opinion what room you get can make or break your college life. So, be ready, be dilligent because doubles lottery is coming this Wednesday. I know many such as myself will be studying floor plans in and out to find the best rooms.  Seniors start first on Wednesday at 1pm, then Juniors on Thursday, and Sophomores on Friday. Make sure to communicate to your roomie so you guys are on the same page, or if you don’t have one start looking! Hopefully you drew a low number, and don’t forget to be ready for when called. Good luck to you all.

Your week to take by storm!

That’s this week at Cornell. I hope there’s plenty to do and explore for you this week. From sports, videogames, yoga, to Yarn Squad, there is always something going on for everybody at Cornell. I hope you all have an excellent week, and I will see you next Sunday!
